TravelAid mobilises university students to tackle the causes and symptoms of global poverty.  In partnership with community organisations around the world, TravelAid structures development projects which are funded and implemented by groups of university students.

A team of university students is recruited to each project and given the responsibility of raising the necessary funds for its execution, before spending 4-6 weeks volunteering at the project over the summer vacation.

Our projects are driven by needs in the developing world, as expressed by the local people. TravelAid has long-term partnerships with locally-led organisations operating in nine of the world’s poorest communities. We mobilise students to assist these organisations in their efforts to help their own communities, through the provision of skills and funds unavailable locally. For example, our student volunteers have funded and set-up a social enterprise cafe in Cambodia, taught science and funded the construction of a laboratory in Tanzania and structured a school scholarship scheme for bright rural children in India.
