TravelAid volunteers worked in Oyugis, Kenya in 2001. The volunteers engaged in a range of different projects, ranging from dentistry to teaching. Their fundraising enabled the construction of Safi Health Clinic, an HIV/AIDS centre still operating today. Remaining funds were spent on providing bicycles, enabling community health workers to reach people living far from any road quickly.
In 2009, TravelAid and Upendo Foundation International entered into a new partnership. Our first collaborative project centres around teacher eduction and school support in Oyugis. TravelAid and Upendo are also working together to launch a medical project, which will involve the composition and delivery of an HIV/AIDS education programme for local schools.
