TravelAid Volunteers are:
University Students
TravelAid volunteers are full-time university students. Volunteers can be graduate students or undergraduates at any stage of their university course. Student volunteers are highly educated, with an excellent grasp of the english language.
Currently, only students from Oxford (UK) and Cambridge (UK) Universities volunteer with TravelAid.
TravelAid is expanding and will offer its projects to students at more universities in the future. If you would like TravelAid to offer projects at your university we'd like to hear from you; please get in touch using the contact section on this website.
Committed
TravelAid volunteers are motivated by a desire to broaden their horizons and to apply their skills as best they can to support the community they work with. TravelAid volunteers are not holiday-seekers. We look for students who are wholeheartedly committed to volunteering with TravelAid, both whilst fundraising in the UK and whilst on project in the developing world.
Team-players
At TravelAid, we place a great emphasis on team-building and cooperation. Volunteers fundraise in teams, and execute their project as a team. Thus, we look for volunteers who can work with others in an effective and sensitive manner.
Adaptable
Our volunteers relish a challenge and are able to work in conditions very different to those they are used to at home. We look for volunteers who will behave sensitively and in accordance with local culture and who will be able to work creatively with little resources.
